BACKGROUND
Unorthodox Design was started as a design and fabrication effort by Toronto, Canada-based Industrial Designer Mike Cameron.
Industrial design gave me the critical thinking and engineering background that drives my fabrication and design methods to this day.
The 'new school' of Industrial Design is based around an empirical problem-solving apparatus with a research-centric approach. Even in visual-heavy jobs like space weapons still take some research to make them ergonomic, fit into an established aesthetic, be produced on time and budget, and incorporate the various (sometimes competing) tastes and viewpoints of associated stakeholders.
